Kepler

DIY images from space is a fun trend in photography. And Kepler Space Kit makes sending a camera up to 100,000 feet above the ground possible. "The base Kepler kit transforms with minimal waste: the kite turns into a parachute, the rods into landing legs, and the custom mount supports a capsule for high-flying travel. Add a weather balloon and a GPS transmitter, and your iPhone or Go Pro camera will be ready to blast off and return with footage of the great beyond."

Favorite Day at Work, Ever.

I had just two weeks to execute this idea. The ask from Quirky was, “send your iPhone to space.” but my concern was how can I make this a consumer product. The hypothesis: An aerial photography kite that can be hacked into a space camera. The timeframe: It has to be made in 2 weeks. The problem: We only had one shot, so it had to be perfect. The solution: 1 week of intense research with a following week of prototyping and preparation for launch. Luckily, the launch was a success, and we had proof of concept, and 4 happy designers!
